Michael's Italian Kitchen makes a sturdy backup if the wait at nearby I Fratelli is too long. Plus, it's BYOB, so you can bring your own babushka. Wut? Prices are on the cheap side, but the entrees are freshly prepared and nicely presented. Salads were mainly a disappointment, but the house tomato vinaigrette was tangy and helped spruce up the chopped ice berg lettuce that sunk the salad (ice berg, sunk, now this is a blog, ladies and gentlemen!). The shopping center is on top of a hill, and Michael's patio has a nice view of the Valley Ranch area, with its sprawling fresco of zero-lot homes and eastern bloc-meets-Ikea apartment complexes. Service was informal and sarcastic, just like we like it. Too full for dessert, back to the office for a nap. Two point seven eight gavels.
